Question Druids, yes...no

I've been thinking whether or not GW should add Druids as a new profession. I dont think theres a problem with having druids, but it wouldn't fell right. You've already Ritualists, Rangers, even Dervish's. I duno, what do you think?

You pretty much answered your own question. Druids would just be another spellcasting class, and would be some sort of horrific cross of the three classes you mentioned.

Not necessary, there's enough overpowered classes already.

A hybrid class? Why would you want guild wars to be like every other fantasy mmo? Yea and as said above, its not necessary.

So may I ask what you would call the Ritualist and the Paragon?

If you break things down enough, you basically only have 2 types of characters - combatants and casters. All classes/professions are one of these basic concepts. Thus, there really "should" only be 2 classes - warrior and caster. The warrior would have weapon skills and other attribute lines that support the use of that weapon, and the caster would have several different lines of magic, each w/ their own flavor. I mean, what is really the difference between an elementalist and a necro? They can be easily broken down into their component parts.

Personally, I don't think a druid would be a good profession because it is too similar to what you'd find in a ranger/ele or ranger/monk.

Druids plz if all professions are customized for GW2 and all skills all new... Remove ritualists and get druids instead (with druid and rt skills).

As far as GW is already concerned Druids are an ancient race rather than a profession. Adding some sort of profession tied to that would cause too much confusion.

I am hoping that GW2 works without classes at all at all.
Biostem has it right there are warrior types and caster types, all else is mutable.

So I hope we go along the rout where characters make decisions and those decisions lead down paths that split and occasionally rejoin till you reach the final list of attributes that make the character.

Probably the first choice would be developing the body or the mind.
One leading to the ability to wear heavy armor and physical toughness.
The other to attunement with various elemental or spiritual forces and the ability to manipulate them.

All the present classes can be rationalised in this way.

As for the op question Druids yes or no, the answer is yes they do excist and will excist in gw2.
Unless you have a really strict view on what is or isn't a druid.

ie D&D druid
Leather armor falcion and shield
Use of fire element spells as well as nature spells of healing.
A protector of the natural environment

best as I remember from my D&D days

im stil at the opinion...so more different professionsa, so better, as long they are all based on an evolution tree, which origin are like 6 core classes...

so the RO character system is imo still best, because it offers the player total individuality...the player is with it ever able to choose your own way in which direction you want to evolutionize your character into a profession you want to be, that is then in the end no wannabe...

No, the end result is then something, that really looks, acts and moves like the profession you want to play....something you don#t have in gW >.>

in GW you can choose only out of 10 professions, when you own all campaigns!!, and most of them are only wannabes, which either can't look like something other you originally wanted to create, or they don't move or neither act like a profession you want to play..

best examples are Mesmers, Dervishs and dumb Paragons...
GW's most best examples, how developers can give a game total crap wannabe professions...real pseudos ...

Mesmers, the Wannabe Rogues, which don't either can look like real rogues, mesmer look all only like gay/rich retards... with absolute ugly boring hairstyles, which mostly look all the same

Dervishs, the non dancing Wannabe Gods/Druids >.> The Culture about the Dervish is known for their Dances.. but Dervishs in game have NO single Dance Skills, because the game has no Dance Skill system, something like Stances or so... then about the Wannabe Gods...giving Dervs avatars of Gods lets them look like overpowered non human beings.... why had it to be God Avatars >.>
Wouldn't be avatars from Demons enough ?
Giving them Avatars from well known Demons would give this clas also the ability to have alot more Avatar Skills, then only 5, also some, which must be then not Elite Skills... also giving them Demon Avatars lets this class look more mystical and evil in some kind of way...

The Paragons lol..first the name of this class is absolute terrible..paragon is no name that can be used for a profession ... also this doesn't fit to the african culture about NF ... this class would look alot more trustworthy as "Hunter", because the Spear is one of the oldest Hunting Weapons of mankind, when not THE oldest

But this change would mean also some totally other changes, it would also mean, to split away the Sunspears from the profession..the Hunter would receive then totally new armors, so that this profession has nothing to do then anymore with the SS..the SS would be then only a story related order or so, or some kind of faction...
as the paragons are atm, they are only GW's best example of how to make Wannabe Angels/Bards/Hunter/ Army Leaders

Imo the paragon is GW's most overconcepted crap profession of all, that absolutely doesn't fit into the game.
=========

I won#t say now, to come back to the topic, GW2 needs Druids ..no..
What GW2 really needs is a huge variety on different professions in an evolution system, based on a 1Class System.
Because only such a system offers the players the most best individuality...

with a 2class systewm u have no individuality..u get only crippled wannabes
Best is it, when players have to train their characters over time and become from evolution to evolution stronger, until the character has reached his final stage of where the character can't evolutionize further, because it has reached the top of its career

And such a career is easily show in 5 Steps...

Step 1: Each Character starts as simple Novice first in a Starter Town with no job at all (Tutorial)

Step 2: Your Novice will choose its Core Profession

Step 3: With Level X your Core Character will become a Disciple

Step 4: With Level Y your Disciple Character wil become a Master

Step 5: With Max Level your Master Character will become an Elite

Example:

Novice > Warrior > Soldier > Legionaire > Warlord
Novice > Mage > Sorcerer > Warlock > Necromancer
Novice > Acolyth > Priest > High Priest > Reverant
Novice > Archer > Scout > Ranger > Guardian
Novice > Mage > Wizard > High Wizard > Witcher (Elementalist)
Novice > Merchant > Blacksmith > Mastersmith > Runesmith
Novice > Mage > Ritualist > Occultist > Demonologist
Novice > Merchant > Biochemist > Alchemist > Creator
Novice > Merchant > Visioneer (Fortune Teller) > Seer > Oracle
Novice > Thief > Thug > Rogue > Stalker
Novice > Thief > Assassin > Ninja > Shinobi
Novice > Warrior > Knight > Crusader > Paladin
Novice > Warrior > Warmonger > Barbarian > Berserker
Novice > Akolyth > Monk > War Monk > Shaolin (Xunlai)
Novice > Merchant > Medic > Shaman > Druid
Novice > Thief > Dancer > Gypsy > Dervish
Novice > Archer > Musician > Bard > Minstrel
Novice > Warrior > Knight > Dragon Knight > Dragoon
Novice > Merchant > Engineer > Developer > Mechanic
Novice > Mage > Sorcerer > Medium > Runologist
Novice > Slave > Fighter > Gladiator > Champion
Novice > Warrior > Samurai > Shogun > Sensei

and so on ...

as every blind one with a stick for criplles should see, with such an evo system..every imagineable profession can be created, thus giving the players real individuality and free choice of creating, whatever you want to play, without having to fear to end up with having a wannabe, that either doesn#t realy look, act or move like that, like you know how the profession should, that you want to play.

if they can give us this in GW2, the game will really have the perfect character system ..this together with such an high end professional character creator, like in the upcoming MMORPG "Perfect World" and bang, GW2 become the best game of the future about Character Creation and Profession System Individuality

the only hook that this would have only that i can imagine is, that such high end character profession individuality takes so much space, ect. that GW2 would become a game with monthly fee *g* T.T that would be the only sad point to it XD

You refuted your idea right there. Anet stated they will keep the subscription-free model. To do all the stuff you want would need space and personnel that would require more money(not if they ran Linux servers, but....). They are already quoted as putting in $45 million on GW2 and committing tons of devs(they don't exercise much ^ ^).

Plus, they want to keep it as simple as possible. An 8-skill bar alone points to this. It's complicated enough with 10 classes, as well as 5 races and their related buffs/nerfs.
